Jack McDonald
Jack McDonald is truly a modern-day recording artist in that he wears many different hats. He is an audio producer, composer, songwriter, mixing engineer, sound designer, and solo performer. His journey into audio began at sixteen, when he started teaching himself how to record in his bedroom and make beats after school. This early experimentation sparked a deep passion for sound that soon grew into making music across a wide range of genres.
Originally from Tampa, Florida, Jack moved to Portland, Oregon to study Sonic Arts and Music Production at Portland Community College and Portland State University. His academic training helped refine his creative instincts and elevate his technical skillset.
Today, Jack’s work spans across many mediums and styles. He has produced and contributed to tracks for notable alternative acts such as Kenny Mason, Madisenxoxo, Daniel Novello, Mana Garden, and THE BLSSM. He has worked on original scores for short films and created the sonic logo for the acclaimed podcast In the Flow. As an audio engineer and associate producer, he has worked on the podcasts Shofar So Good and Many Roads to Here, where he helps craft narrative-driven stories with a documentary feel. In early 2025, he released a solo album that traces the arc of a transformative chapter in his life—an intimate and diaristic record that blends songcraft, storytelling, and sonic collage.
Whether it's in a song he writes or an interview he edits and arranges, the through-line in all of Jack’s work is his commitment to authentic and compelling storytelling. He currently focuses his time on audio-based storytelling projects and is open to new collaborations. You can reach him at jackmcdonald212@gmail.com.
